Villages are temporary, as heavy fire will quickly destroy them, but before that happens, they change the battlefield drasticly. Longer ranged weapons often prove innefective, unless they use a high arc. Defences are often placed according to the streets in the village, rather then the direction, from which troops enter the village itself.

Infantry and light vehicles are the dominant force in villages. Soon after medium tanks arrive, the village slowly gets destroyed, so don't think the village will stay for long.

Villages are often placed aroud important locations, notably the center flag in "moro river" and corner flags in river valley (the latter is a very large village, impeding tank movement for long periods of time. Villages in less important locations can live for much longer, like the village in "road to rome" that gives small infantry cover, but battles are rarly fought there as there is little reason to combat the obstacle as well.
